S.O.S. Lyme,
an invisible epidemic

What is it like to live with a disease that officially barely exists? Patients and international specialists tell their story.

About this site

Lyme is hard to detect and hard to treat

On this website you will find information for patients and professionals about Lyme disease, its treatment and its impact on our society.

Specialised international doctors and researchers are achieving success with new guidelines for the treatment of chronic Lyme. In the Netherlands these are not yet accepted and treatment is not reimbursed. As a result, patients are often left to fend for themselves.

The film

A film about injustice, struggle and conflicting interests

Director Pim Giel shows what it is like to live with this misunderstood disease: paralysis, pain and spasms, but also children taken into care, misdiagnoses and benefit problems.

Ambassadors and former Lyme patients Miro Kloosterman, Pete Philly, John Crombez and Roos van Acker call for more attention and recognition.
